Space for an expanded Dress-smart and overhead carparking has been claimed out of solid ground the build was by Savory Constructions
Creating a new or expanded shopping facility can sometimes be only half the job for a construction company. Preparing the groundwork can be equally demanding, particularly when the space is claimed directly out of dense rock.
Savory Construction excavated 6000m³ of rock to make way for an extended Dress-Smart retail facility catering to an additional 30 outlets, with three levels of carparking rising above it, says site manager Phil Burns.
"Prior to excavation, the original Dress-Smart looked up the slope of this excavated site, while the completed project now rises above the original shopping area," he says. "Seven new shops were introduced above the original build, further expanding Dress-Smart's retail offering."
The concrete slab and steel structure is dug into the hill, the construction company having completed the base-level retail floor ready for individual fit-outs to take over. In addition, Savory Construction was responsible for overseeing the subcontractors' installation of the building's shared services, such as the air conditioning.
