Talk to the experts and they'll all say the key to a good kitchen lies in the planning. Having items right at hand when you need them saves time and effort.

Austrian manufacturer Julius Blum has undertaken extensive research in European kitchens, and developed the Dynamic Space storage concept to streamline storage, maximise space and provide ergonomic benefits.

Blum kitchen drawer systems are now available in New Zealand through Sanco (NZ). Sanco manager Mel Sanders says the Blum approach recognises that the location of storage is just as important to the smooth running of a kitchen as the position of appliances and work tops.

"The right layout of zones for equipment storage, provision storage, food preparation, cooking and cleaning all need to be taken into account at the planning stage," he says.

Sanders says ergonomics are central to Blum design. The drawers feature full extensions, so you can easily access the contents without stooping.

The storage systems include Blum's renowned Tandem runners and Blumotion soft-closing system that ensures doors and drawers close gently and quietly.

The system automatically adjusts to compensate for heavily laden or empty drawers, and for when you push the drawer gently or with force. Customers can specify whether they want a 30kg or 50kg loading per drawer.

Modern cutlery and utensil dividers in stainless steel are also available to provide optimum space within each drawer. They can be easily rearranged and safely cleaned in the dishwasher.

There are three colours in the Blum drawer range white, grey and stainless steel. Sizes are available from 270mm through to 650mm deep with any width to suit up to 1200mm.
