Sleek white kitchen with Smeg appliances
Even a small kitchen can be transformed beyond recognition, and this applies to both aesthetics and functionality.
This kitchen was formerly a dark, cramped space, with burgundy cabinets and dated appliances. To make it light and airy, designer Colleen Holder introduced sleek white cabinetry with recessed pulls, and added LED lighting around the base.
"We also opened up part of a wall to provide a visual link to the adjoining family room," says Holder. "And because the space is small, storage was maximised with hardware systems, including vertical pantries and carousels."
There was no compromising on the Smeg appliances, either, which match the sleek, streamlined look. A 60cm multifunction oven is teamed with a matching combination steam oven (above), a 70cm induction hob, power pack ventilation unit and integrated dishwasher.
"I recommended the owner look at the appliances at Kitchen Things, and Smeg is a particularly good product," says Holder.
The Smeg oven has a generous 79-litre capacity and offers 12 functions, including self-cleaning pyrolytic settings. The combination-steam oven can be used to grill, bake or steam food, and it even comes with a pizza function. The Smeg induction cooktop provides fast, energy-efficient cooking with precise temperature control.
