Relaxed living
To provide a low-maintenance kitchen for this beachside apartment, the designer specified products from The Laminex Group
Good kitchen design doesn't have to cost a small fortune. As this renovation project illustrates, with the right material palette, eye-catching design and affordability can go hand in hand.
The kitchen, in an Oceanside Towers apartment in Mount Maunganui, features Melteca low-pressure laminate cabinetry from The Laminex Group.
Designer Sheryl Stuart of Mastercraft Kitchens for Living says Melteca laminate in Rock Salt was chosen for its colour, modern look and functionality.
"Melteca is cost effective, durable and very low maintenance, which makes it ideal for a beachside apartment," she says. The Rock Salt colour of these cabinets is also a practical option, as it doesn't show fingermarks easily."
The Melteca cabinets are paired with CaesarStone® benchtops in Cashmere a soft sand shade. Stuart says CaesarStone was specified for its consistent patterning and streamlined, minimal appearance.
"I also like the fact that it is nonporous and therefore stain resistant," she says. "Its heat and scratch resistance are also key benefits."
To add visual impact, the laundry is concealed behind a bank of doors featuring Scilm aluminium frames from The Laminex Group. Coloured glass panels complement the CaesarStone benchtops.
