Architects and designers are always looking to push the boundaries with innovative, contemporary kitchen design. But for many years they have been restricted by the limitations of available materials, particularly surface solutions.

To provide both the look and the design flexibility required today, The Laminex Group has released two new products Laminex Freestyle¢ Surfaces and Laminex Squareform¢ Benchtops.

Manufactured from a blend of natural minerals and pure acrylic resins, Freestyle surfaces can be moulded, shaped and specified to any thickness. The seamless joins are virtually invisible, says Amanda Saunders, The Laminex Group marketing communications manager.

The collection includes a mix of glass, concrete and stone looks, and draws on the latest European design directions.

"We have taken inspiration from these international trends and further refined our designs to meet the needs of discerning Australians," says Saunders.

The collection of 20 Freestyle surfaces features six newly released colours and finishes, including the icy matt Glacier, a semi-translucent white, the pale-grey satin Crystal Angelica and chunky textural looks, such as Tahini and Terra Nova.

Saunders says Freestyle surfaces have been specially engineered for high performance.

"The non-porous surfaces are resistant to heat, scratches, and stains, and easy to clean. In addition, the solid composition means that even after many years, the surfaces can be easily renewed or repaired if needed."

For added peace of mind, Laminex Freestyle surfaces come with a 15-year warranty.

The new Squareform surfaces, featured on these pages, offer something a little different. Manufactured to a thickness of 39mm, these laminate benchtops have seamless, deep square edges. An underside drip-groove channels water spillage away from the surface and doors.

"The Squareform range combines a sophisticated stone slab look, with practicality and value," says Saunders. "Available in a palette of 15 of our most popular stone-look options, Squareform benchtops also provide the proven performance of a high-pressure laminate."

Saunders says the benchtop sealant is a premium adhesive for moisture and heat resistance.

"This new product has the same quality and durability that homeowners and designers have come to expect from the Laminex brand," she says. "As well as being hardwearing, the surfaces are resistant to heat and stains.

"Squareform benchtops are easy to keep looking as good as new, and come with a seven-year warranty."

The range has been designed to co-ordinate with existing Laminex products, and will integrate easily with other textures and surfaces.
