This was precisely the case for Naylor Love, the main contractor for the Silverdale Centre.Project manager Steve Walker says the company was involved right from the outset, helping to set a realistic budget, and advising on material selection and costings on an ongoing basis."Naylor Love is the biggest retail contractor in the country, and we have a working joint venture arrangement with The Warehouse Group to provide construction expertise nationwide. For this project, we were contracted to build a very high-quality retail centre that would set a new benchmark in the North Auckland area." Silverdale Centre by The Warehouse Group Walker says the size of the project added to the logistical challenge of managing access for cranes and material deliveries around service installations and trenches. The interface between the different zones was carefully co-ordinated to avoid clashes and to ensure key materials, such as the decorative precast concrete panels, would not be damaged.During the build, Naylor Love was responsible for 110 subcontractors involved in the main build and an additional 30-40 in the tenancy fit-outs. The Countdown supermarket was a full base build and fit-out project for Naylor Love."The success of the project can be attributed to the collaboration of all parties involved," says Walker. "Everyone worked together to achieve a quality project that met the budget."
