Raised expectations

Having promised Yellow a treehouse, the first people who the company behind the advertising campaign, Colenso BBDO, had to find were project managers. In a Yellow online search they discovered The Building Intelligence Group, a company that describes its team as not just project managers, but Vision Formers®. From that first phone call, there were just four months to deliver the treehouse, including finding the tree.

The Building Intelligence Group's project director, Gareth Skirrow, says finding the right partners to deliver the project and meet the timing challenge not to mention the challenges presented by its individualistic engineering aspects was critical.

"We really admired Yellow for running with such an off-the-wall idea, and were able to provide them with the certainty that we'd deliver their vision through a collaborative team approach."

Partners in the project, chosen through a detailed pre-selection process and led by The Building Intelligence Group, included Pacific Environments Architects, Holmes Consulting and NZ Strong Construction. A robust selection process was also applied to the remainder of the supply chain to identify the many local people and organisations with the zest needed to help deliver the project.

"In the end, the success of this campaign hinged on finding the right sort of people, including an ability to work in a truly collaborative partnership," says Skirrow. "All the companies involved see the benefit of being able to promote themselves as solutions-driven and innovative companies their commitment to completing the job for Yellow was phenomenal."
