New Zealand's clean, green image is at the heart of the interior fit-out of the NZ Central office in Shanghai. So it's not surprising New Zealand Trade & Enterprise took the opportunity to showcase this country's multi-million dollar wool industry. New Zealand's majestic landscape, which is such a drawcard for international visitors, includes a picturesque countryside that is ideal for high-quality wool production.
From its base in Christchurch in the South Island of New Zealand, CRONZ Carpets and Rugs of New Zealand custom manufactures pure New Zealand wool rugs and carpets for discerning buyers throughout the world, including NZTE.
The NZTE designers specified a wool and alpaca blended carpet from CRONZ for the lounge and meeting room. The company also manufactured the circular green 100% wool rug in the reception area.
CRONZ managing director John Wyma says Sole carpet from the company's Footloose collection was specified. This carpet is a high-end product manufactured in the CRONZ Christchurch factory.
"The yarn is made from a blend of pure New Zealand wool and alpaca wool," Wyma says. "These are natural yarns requiring no dyes, which means that all the processes were carried out in New Zealand and were environmentally friendly. As the carpet was custom made, we were able to tuft it at a denser pile weight to make it more suitable for commercial use."
The circular green rug is the Milford from the CRONZ Alpine collection. This rug is manufactured from 100% pure New Zealand felted wool, which is a particularly durable option for a high-traffic area.
"We also provided a loop pile as this is well known for its resilience," says Wyma.
CRONZ specialises in individually crafted carpets and rugs, with each project the result of a unique collaboration between the client and the CRONZ design and manufacturing team. Rugs and carpets are made to the exact size, shape, structure, colour and finish specified by the customer.
