A beautiful garden is an oasis in an urban landscape a sanctuary where you can unwind at leisure. It's also an investment that can substantially increase the value of your home.

But not everyone is born with green fingers. And not everyone has the knowledge, experience or expertise to design a beautiful outdoor living area, which is where LIANZ members can help.

LIANZ is an active industry body representing more than 200 members who are practising landscape design, construction and garden care professionals. LIANZ president Tim Williams says every accredited member needs to meet strict quality standards to qualify for admission.

"Members are also bound by the LIANZ Code of Conduct and constitution, which promotes excellence in all aspects of our work."

Williams says many homeowners may not be aware of the landscaping possibilities for their homes and the transformation that can be achieved.

"LIANZ professionals are fully trained to see the potential in every site, no matter how large or small," he says. "And it can be a much less expensive option to hire a landscape professional to design and install your garden, rather than opt for an inexperienced fly-by-night contractor."
