Professional approach
Bathroom design can be just as complex as kitchens, which is why is pays to talk to the experts. NKBA members have both the experience and the product knowledge to ensure you get the best result
No matter how much you pore over glossy magazines and brochures, planning a new bathroom can be problematic. There will often be space and light issues that can seem insurmountable.
There is an easy way to achieve the look you want, however with a little help from the professionals at the National Kitchen & Bathroom Association (NKBA).
The NKBA was established more than 40 years ago to provide a list of professional designers and manufacturers who can help you plan a new bathroom or kitchen, or transform an existing space. The association was also formed to remove the risk factor when choosing a professional, says Mid-West president Cathy Sparling AKBD.
"The NKBA promotes professionalism among members, monitors standards, and fosters excellence in design, manufacture and installation," she says. "Our members are experienced in solving design problems for projects large and small. They are also fully up to date on the latest design trends and new products."
This experience and expertise is recognized annually in the NKBA Design Competition, which judges projects on a variety of criteria, including visual appeal, creativity, design, presentation, safety and ergonomics.
"NKBA members also undertake Professional Development Courses, which raise the bar for kitchen and bath professionals," says Sparling. "In addition, NKBA Kitchen and Bath Designer Certifications are based on written examinations, which are independently assessed, and extensive industry experience."
The NKBA's website details members in your area, and offers information and advice on planning your bathroom. The association has also published the Kitchen & Bath Consumer Workbook, which offers remodeling tips, answers common questions, and carefully walks you through each step of the remodeling process. You can request the workbook on the website.
