Prized designs
These creatively designed and functional kitchens have been recognized by Hadco as finalists in the 2008 Best Traditional Kitchen Award
While most homeowners call for modern functionality in the kitchen, the turned wood and visual warmth of the traditional aesthetic is still alive and well, as these two kitchens demonstrate.
The kitchen pictured left was designed by TL Hamilton Designs, and Wheeler Woodworks created the cabinetry. The design was driven by extensive views and the client's desire for a multi-purpose and functional layout. The placement of the main sink and Viking stainless steel appliances makes it possible for the whole family to work and socialize in the space at the same time. The design and size of the hearth hood is a visual highlight, which both conceals the ventilation and adds a decorative element to the cooking zone.
Kitchenworks created the design seen at right. This involved the redesign of an existing kitchen space to upgrade an older home. Turned legs on the island add to the traditional look, while the width of the countertop allows for socializing and casual dining. Kitchenworks offers expertise in improving the function of a kitchen, and provides custom cabinetry to meet the individual needs of its clients.
