Gailer was the Auckland Regional Winner as well. The judges described this project as a striking bathroom with a sense of fun.Gailer says the clients wanted a feeling of openness. They also wanted a luxurious bathroom that would optimise the bush and estuary views. The solution was to leave an opening between the bedroom and bathroom. Interior view of a contemporary bathroom "Providing a sunken spa bath and bringing the window down to the edge of the tub maximises the space and views."Gailer says the vanity was placed in front of another full-height window, along with a mirror cabinet mounted on a stainless steel post. The designer also provided an open, walk-in shower with floor-to-ceiling glass. Natural light reflects off the silver lava tiles and mirrors, and there is an orange LED sensor light in the heated floor tiles.Designer Leanne Larking of quattro uno was Runner-up for the Best Bathroom Design, and Hawkes Bay Regional Winner. Larking designed a bespoke boutique bathroom for an older home. The room incorporates a floating bulkhead above the vanity that maintains a sense of scale and proportion. A stone bench with undermounted basins streamlines and enhances the length of the room. Small flexible mirrors attached to the large mirrors emphasise the concept of his and hers. Interior view of a contemporary bathroom Designer Debra DeLorenzo CKD/CBDNZ of Debra DeLorenzo Design Ltd took the Gold Award Bathroom Trends prize, and was also the Wellington Regional Winner. Her traditionally styled bathroom was designed to create a sense of drama. A classic black-and-white theme was enhanced by Resene Vision wallpaper, white tiles and trim and a traditional mosaic floor. For more details, visit the NKBA website: www.nkba.org.nz.
