Nowadays, with the number of choices of finishes, colours and materials, we can easily create an individual look for our home, and kitchen benchtops are no exception.

One versatile, hardwearing option is to use polished concrete from The Concrete Doctors at Construction Systems.

To achieve the finish, a variety of objects ranging from coloured aggregate to glass, shells or nails, is seeded into the mix of concrete and then polished smooth. Alternatively, integrally coloured concrete can be used, giving a deeper, more even colour.

Tops are all individually made and moulded into the right shape for each kitchen. Before work begins, Construction Systems can provide a colour sample.

Easy to maintain, polished concrete is well-suited to a variety of uses, including floors, fireplace hearths and bathroom vanity tops.

The company can also revamp older concrete floors. This is done by honing the existing concrete, by adding a layer of new concrete over the old surface, or by colouring the existing floor with a range of overlays that can include coloured decorative staining.
