With its Gerard New Milano tile pitched roof, exposed gables, expansive overhangs and contrasting material palette, the house is engendering plenty of interest, Leith says. The exterior features a combination of Celcrete smooth plaster, Pacific Timber Envira weatherboard accents and textural schist columns.
"The house doesn't have a large footprint, but it has been designed so every square metre is maximised," says Leith. "It also provides flexibility. For example, floor-to-ceiling stacking sliders can close off the lounge if required. And we have introduced bright accents to enhance the visual impact, such as the Quantum Quartz Starlight Ruby benchtop on the kitchen island, and decorative wallpaper in the entrance."
Leith says the house was designed with affordable sustainability in mind. The house has maximum passive heat gain from the sun in winter, while large overhangs keep the heat out in summer. Glass doors and windows are all double glazed and the house is insulated to a high value. Energy-saving light fixtures and appliances have been fitted, along with on-demand gas hot water heating. Construction procedures were also focused on sustainability.
"At David Reid Homes we pride ourselves on raising the standard in design, quality and service," says Leith. "We have always enjoyed building good homes for good people. The company's reputation for attention to detail and high-quality construction is a reflection of the experience and local knowledge that goes into every home. In addition, we have a Rock Solid Guarantee for every project."
