In any large piazza, the paving underfoot is a defining feature, and Aotea Square is no exception. With its wide steps leading down from Queen St, the paved area at Aotea Square forms a natural amphitheatre, enhancing the civic amenity.John Fillmore Contracting (JFC) works included all the structural concrete, from the car park roof deck up; all the above-ground structures, including steps, walls and terraces; and more than 7500m² of paving.JFC was faced with many challenges during construction.
