Personal touch
For an individual look in your bathroom, consider hand-crafted tiles made in New Zealand by The Middle Earth Tile Company
In a world where things get faster and more streamlined by the day, a sense of time spent, craftsmanship and individuality can easily be lost. To bring a human touch to your bathroom interior, a business focused on colourful, handmade tiling is a good place to start.
The Middle Earth Tile Company manufactures ceramic tiles in a variety of shapes, finishes and hues, says owner Jeff Roberts.
"Each tile is hand cut and hand glazed, meaning every one literally has a personal touch," he says. "The tiles are classically made cut from blocks of wet clay, dried, and kiln fired at 1100 degrees. They are then glazed and hand fired again to achieve their individual shape and colour."
The myriad textures and colours of the handmade tiles present an eye-catching array of design options for home owners.
"Styles include hand-glazed mosaics as well as standard tile shapes," says Roberts. "Colours range from subtle pastels and metallics through to brilliant reds, which offer vibrancy and warmth. We also have a selection of Italian and Spanish mosaics to support our own production."
The distinctive Middle Earth tiles are sold by over 50 retailers nationwide.
