The home's contemporary charm is reflected in the choice of appliances. Smeg appliances, many from the manufacturer's Classic range, were supplied by Applico.

While the individual models all present easy-to-use, broad functionality, their design presence was also a factor. The clean-lined range was developed by the internationally respected Italian designer Guido Canali, who has made his name by combining aspects of historical works of art with contemporary needs.

Canali has translated his large-scale design ethos into domestic proportions for Smeg. His creative emphasis on both his building designs and these Classic Smeg appliances is a synthesis between the past and present and also the practical and the aesthetically pleasing.

Smeg appliances featured in the kitchen are the double oven, cooktop, rangehood, microwave, dishwasher and side-by-side refrigerator.

The double oven is highly versatile, with an eight-function main oven offering fan-forced and super-fan-forced cooking. This is supplemented by an auxiliary oven with four functions, useful when catering for small numbers or for cooking dessert. It can also be used as a warming drawer. The Smeg hob is also well considered. It has an automatic safety cut-out, easy-to-clean surfaces and an individual timer for each zone. Overhead, the hood can operate via sensor control turning on automatically after sensing vapour or temperature.

Other appliances in the range are equally impressive. Smeg's stainless steel refrigerator-freezer, for example, has a frost-free freezer function, adjustable safety-glass shelves, a bacteria suppression system and concealed hinges.
