Innovation and the ability to think outside the square kept Planet Plumbing on time and on budget

At the core of any development lie the services that many of us don't even think about. Out of sight may be out of mind, but that doesn't negate the importance, or complexity, of works such as hydraulic systems.
Plumbing contractor Planet Plumbing was contracted to the Discovery Point development on a design and construction basis, says managing director Anthony Alafaci.
"We had to design and construct a hydraulic system that incorporated sewer, stormwater, trade waste, hot and cold water service, and gas service. We also supplied and installed the sanitaryware."
The company's project manager, Mark Campbell, says the challenges associated with the project resulted in some unique solutions.

"The harder-than-expected rock base would have resulted in a budget overrun had we installed the stormwater drainage system traditionally. The solution was to aerially suspend the pipeworks, which kept the project on time and on budget."
