Classic dark tones give way to lighter, more contemporary hues and new timber floors Stately homes that were at the top of their game thirty years ago may not be in step with contemporary living. Playing up the good bones of a well-built residence and opening its interiors up into more generous living spaces can make the house even more gracious in modern terms. It also makes the house more attractive in terms of family lifestyle and marketability.Atlanta Design & Build has a name for transforming once well-to-do residences into modern family homes and investment opportunities, says designer Dale Contant."We undertake whole, or partial, house remodels that enable clients to enjoy large, spacious domiciles in established neighborhoods where a new residence might be beyond their reach," Contant says. "Our in-house design focus means a client's vision or requirement is directly reflected in the work without misinterpretation." Atlanta Design & Build's principal designer Dale Contant swapped out a cramped and angular stairway in this house - introducing a fluid, curving staircase in it's place. Contant seamlessly combined the original space with more modern elements. He also introduced the medallion into the new entranceway tilework. Atlanta Design & Build's four-point mission statement has contributed to the company earning many industry awards. The points are creative design solutions, high-end craftsmanship, responsive project management, and investment value. The project shown here is an example of Contant's imaginative design solutions."We raised the entrance roof to both create a dramatic entry and provide space for a Juliet landing above," says Contant. "Downstairs, load-bearing walls were moved to allow the living room and family rooms to merge into one larger, more practical, family space."
