Outside the box
Described by the architect as a freestanding loft house, this new home brings an urban aesthetic to a natural setting
The simple, uncluttered lines of modernist architecture belie the complex building processes needed behind the scenes. But for building company Streeter & Associates, such precision work is par for the course.
The company, which is a joint partner in the Cedar Lake development, specializes in the construction of high-end luxury homes, condominiums and lofts. President Steven Streeter says the firm regularly customizes the shells for loft conversions. While some of these renovations are in historic buildings, others are new.
"This project combines the aesthetics of loft living with the lifestyle advantages of an outdoor setting," he says. "When completed, all three houses will have a similar design language, yet maintain their individuality."
For this house, a warm, sophisticated interior was specified. High-end fixtures and fittings include a custom Valcucine kitchen and a personalized Lutron lighting control system.
