Outside in
A neutral palette allows holidaymakers to focus on the spectacular vista at Opito Bay
With sun, sand and sea setting the scene for a beach holiday, a soothing background contributes to the relaxed mood.
Yellowfox designers used a neutral palette to ensure nothing detracted from the view from this holiday home in Opito Bay. The house was designed to showcase products available through Carters.
The design brings the outside in by using Shadowclad on exterior and interior walls. The rough texture of the outdoor cladding, stained with Resene Woodsman Stain in Iroko, gives a casual feel to the interior, like a classic bach.
In the kitchen, designed by Andrea Burney, warm white walls contrast with dark Bestwood Veneer cabinets, which feature Hettich hardware. The room is slightly raised to offer a sweeping view of the ocean.
To add interest in the master ensuite designer Claire Bruford used natural stone Tuscany mosaic tiles, sourced from Tile Warehouse.
"It's a nice way to add detail to a small room," Bruford says. "The pattern urges the eye to look past the glass shower enclosure, so it seems to disappear."
The designers also used products from Interion, Norman Ellison Carpet and Robertson. Stanley Joinery made the kitchen and bathroom joinery.
