Stacking doors and corner sliders maximise the indoor-outdoor flow in this new show home

Architects often say the simple looks can be the most difficult to achieve. The underlying design, technology and construction needed to create a simple, clean-lined finish can be complex.
To help achieve such a look for the new David Reid Homes show home in Orewa, the design team specified the latest joinery technology from Vantage Windows North Shore. The Silver Pearl powdercoated aluminium joinery includes double-glazed corner sliders from the Metro Series a versatile range of heavy-duty doors and windows. These 2.4m-high doors draw back at 90° to open up the entire corner of the house.

Paul Bayer of Vantage Windows North Shore says double-glazed Metro Series stacking doors were specified for the living area.
"The doors in this series are flush with the outside cladding, so they don't project beyond the edge of the house. This enhances the sleek simplicity of the design. They also have no ridges to trap dirt or moss."

Bayer says the rest of the joinery is from the Vantage residential range. As with the Metro Series, these doors and windows have a large, simple format to reinforce the contemporary design.
