Onto a winner

Architects and designers are always finding new ways to use materials and products, and this kitchen is a perfect example.

Designed by TMA Kitchen Design and manufactured by Walls Bros Designer Kitchens, the kitchen is the second winner in the What's Australia Saying About Hettich campaign, where online visitors vote for their favourite kitchen.

Walls Bros director Peter Walls says the kitchen features many innovative design solutions, including the customised high-gloss polyurethane used on the Eveneer cabinets.

"It also showcases a new way to use Laminex Metaline panels on the splashback wall," he says. "We folded the edges, like sheetmetal, so the panels mimic the Alucobond ceiling panels in the outdoor kitchen. And we created a 10mm-thick glass base for one end of the massive marble-onyx top on the island."

The kitchen features an extensive range of Hettich hardware, including all the handles, and Innotech soft-close drawer systems.

The bifolding doors to the large pantry incorporate the Hettich Wingline system, so they fold open and close with a simple touch. And Hettich Versa Inside and ChannelLine LED lighting transform the kitchen by night, with the glass base of the island backlit.
