One step ahead

One of the strongest trends in home design is the use of polished concrete flooring. While it is increasingly seen in new homes, it is also appearing in renovation projects, particularly where a new living area has been added to a house.

The flooring in the family living area of the house pictured above features the Peter Fell All Colour System. This concrete flooring brings a clean, crisp look to the home, and has been laid to resemble large flagstones.

Because the colour is an integral part of Peter Fell All Colour concrete, it won't chip off or wear away, even in high-traffic areas. Surfaces are also easy to maintain.

A wide range of colours and textures are available, depending on the materials used in the mix for example, these may include small pebbles and rumbled glass, which gives a sparkle to ground concrete. The concrete hues range from terracotta and earthy tones, through to soft pastels.

For the pool landscaping featured on this page, the designer says it was important to choose a surfacing material that would add visual interest and help reduce glare. Concrete coloured with the Peter Fell All Colour System has been laid and custom cut to create a flagstone look. In keeping with current trends, a different coloured coping provides visual contrast at the pool edge.
