One of a kind original custom new home by Hinuera Natural Stone

If you want to create a look for your new home that is original and different to the norm, it may be necessary to think innovatively about the materials you choose and how you use them.

The owners of this Hamilton home were clear that they wanted something different for their new home, using materials that weren't readily available. The alternative to this was to find a product they liked and have a custom-made finish.

Hinuera Natural Stone in Matamata was able to assist. The company's natural volcanic stone is more than a million years old and its quarry is the only natural source of it in this part of the world. Hinuera Natural Stone has supplied the stone as a building material since 1954.

For the exterior cladding on this family home, the company cut larger than standard height Vitric natural Splitstones to give extra bulge and definition to the wall faces, and to emphasise the roughly textured surface of the natural stone. This also created a random length look for the cladding. John MacDonald Builders worked closely with Hinuera Stone to achieve the finish the owners wanted.

Hinuera stone has also been used inside the home as cladding on the chimney breast of the fireplace in the living area.

Hinuera Natural Stone supplies its products in a selection of finishes for cladding, landscaping and as features. Depending on customers' needs, standard blocks can be supplied or the stone can be cut to meet individual specifications.
