For Melbourne-based architectural firm Leffler Simes Architects contracted as design architects on the Harvey Norman project that professional relationship is with New Plymouth-based firm Boon Goldsmith Bhaskar Team Architecture, says Leffler Simes director Stephen Evans.

"The Harvey Norman project was designed by Leffler Simes Architects in conjunction with Boon Goldsmith Bhaskar as project architects. Our brief was to ensure a landmark building to showcase Harvey Norman as a leading retailer on this prominent gateway site."

Challenges including limited site access, height restrictions, and a full-site build meant the building had to be built from the inside out, says Boon Goldsmith Bhaskar Team Architecture associate Alan Reed.

"Because a full-site build was called for, external access wasn't an option. This meant the building had to be built in sections, with the crane being moved around the site after each section was completed."
