With the ever-growing shortage of land in our cities, it is increasingly common to find that most larger homes are at least two stories high.

However, Housing Industry Association award-winning builder Domaine Homes recognises that many families prefer the convenience of single-level homes and, as a result, has unveiled its latest design the Avoca.

Regina Barnes, Domaine Homes' sales and marketing manager, says the 34.2 square Avoca is an excellent design solution for people who want a single-storey home with plenty of space.

This home is designed with an impressive street presence and a gracious porch area. Once inside, the main bedroom and study open off the entry, leading to formal dining and living areas.

"It has four spacious bedrooms and lots of free, flowing living areas for entertaining and family relaxation. The main bedroom has a luxurious ensuite and a roomy walk-in wardrobe, while the other bedrooms all have built-in wardrobes, removing potential storage problems.

"Another appealing and practical feature of the Avoca is its huge walk-in linen closet," says Barnes.

At the rear of the house, a smart, modern kitchen overlooks the covered veranda and rear garden. Family eating and living areas are adjacent to the kitchen.

The main family bathroom doubles as a powder room for guests.

"We have found that home buyers like the openness of this bright and breezy creation. They also like the clever separation between bedroom and living areas," says Barnes.

Domaine Homes also offers a smaller, 30.4 square, version the Abode for families who want a similar design, but who have only a narrow block of land providing a 15m street frontage.

Over the years, Domaine Homes has won many awards for its homes, including, most recently, the HIA Knock Down Rebuild Builder the Year.

Domaine Homes offers its clients a one-on-one colour consultancy at its Your Home Centre. Regional clients are well looked after with overnight accommodation.

"Flexibility is a key component of our service. Every customer is different and has different needs. We recognise this, which is why we are able to make changes to our designs to accommodate the aspirations of our customers. And, once a building project is under way, our service team follows it through from start to finish," says Barnes.
