On a clear day

Part of the unfussy look for the 88 on the Lake apartments comes from the clean lines of the roof a low-pitched design that renders the roof line invisible from the apartment grounds.

As well as design considerations, a roofing product was needed that would be watertight and durable for the pitch of the roof, says Phil Meyers of Roofing Industries.

The roof chosen, a high-tensile steel in light grey, was produced by Roofing Industries. The multidek roof was clipped on, rather than nailed into place, as this helps to keep it watertight.

"Clipping the roof on means that there are no exposed screws or fasteners that could corrode, so you avoid problems with leaking," says Meyers.

"The roofing system chosen also allows the building to breathe, while keeping the building watertight. It's a more expensive choice than other options, but the benefits are worth it."

The roofing was installed by Amalgamated Roofing. Pacific Coilcoaters supplied the raw material, a pre-painted Colorcote in Gullgrey.
