When the brief calls for clean lines, professional joinery can deliver the result

In a residential development designed to emphasise luxury at every turn, it's little wonder that the joinery brief specified using the best available materials throughout.
CMK Joinery executive Mario Konstantinou says that while it was a pleasure working with high-quality supplies, it also posed a few challenges.
"It's not common to work on units using this level of materials and it was good to be part of a project with such attention to detail. However, there were a few challenges along the way. We chose to use a 170mm-thick CaesarStone top in one of the units because it is so aesthetically pleasing, but getting that single piece of stone into the unit and installing it wasn't easy," says Mario.

Working with the developers on the initial drawings gave CMK Joinery an overview of the building. Mario says that even at that stage, he was impressed with the designated material.
"We used polyurethane doors, Hettich InnoTech drawers, single-piece CaesarStone benchtops with a 10mm silver shadow-line, and Starfire glass splashbacks in the kitchen. All the wardrobes feature soft-closing polyurethane doors and solid backings, which is unusual because apartment developments often use much cheaper alternatives. In the bathrooms the freestanding vanities have CaesarStone tops and straight-grain wenge-wood doors," Konstantinou says.
Each apartment was also individually colour co-ordinated to meet different tastes.

"We mixed and varied the colours to please everyone, which is also unusual, as developers often use the same joinery throughout."
