The quality of any office fit-out is dependent on the skills of the contractor particularly when it involves a lot of customisation. To construct the fit-out of the Philips head office, the project team contracted Hawkins Interiors.Hawkins Interiors, a division of Hawkins Construction, is a newly established company specialising in commercial fit-outs and refurbishment projects. It already has a team of 32 experienced staff, with offices in both Auckland and Christchurch. A view of the various interiors used through out the building. General manager Geoff Gibbons says the company worked closely with the main contractor Savory Construction. One of the big aspects of the fit-out was the customised joinery that had to be completed to accommodate the work of key subcontractors. This included fixed joinery, such as the reception counter and social hubs. The company also installed Monz suite sliding aluminium doors to ground floor offices, and laid the flooring.Other customised joinery that provided a challenge to the team included the curved, ripple feature wall where Philips' products are displayed.
