New lease of life
The expertise and experience of a Certified Builder helped in the transformation of this home
With all renovations there are surprises lurking behind the walls or under the floor, but when the builders know what they are doing, these will be resolved with a minimum of fuss.
Certified Builder Richard Merrifield was the main contractor for the renovation of this Nelson home. It was gutted, replumbed, rewired and fully insulated to bring it up to the high standard the owners required. Inside, walls were removed and spaces reorganised to create a large living space with doors opening onto the deck.
Derek Baxter, CEO of the Certified Builders Association of New Zealand (CBANZ), says homeowners, whether they are close by or whether the work is being carried out on a holiday home far away, can relax during the building process when the work is carried out by a member of his association.
"CBANZ members undergo rigorous training and testing to become trade-qualified. This training includes principles of work ethics, such as acting with honesty, integrity and responsibility, and dealing fairly and equitably with clients and other industry professionals," he says.
