New lease of life
A restrained colour and material palette introduces a contemporary touch to the bathrooms in this older home
Maintaining the integrity of a home's character during renovations must be portrayed in every room to create a cohesive design approach.
This was the case here with two bathrooms requiring replacement to bring the house up to an even standard. Elegant Bathroom Design completely gutted the areas and re-created a new family bathroom and ensuite.
Designer Claire McLean says the main bathroom is now a practical, spacious room with double vanity basins, a shower over the bath and a wall-hung toilet.
"We chose restrained, neutral colours for a clean, fresh look. The 80mm-thick granite benchtop adds a touch of luxury."
For privacy, the toilet is concealed behind a tiled wall. A cut-out in the wall allows light through to the shower and creates an eye-catching feature.
The ensuite was also renovated using the same crisp, clean colours as the master bedroom. Tiled walls are accented by a granite top and square handbasin and the design includes good storage.
Elegant Bathroom Design designs and installs bathrooms, supplies fittings, can organise building consents and offers a full project management service.
