Natural selection
Nature moves indoors the subtle colors and patterns of the Corian® Private Collection from DuPont¢ Surfaceshave a strong geological reference
Artists and writers are often inspired by the natural world so too are designers looking for new colors and patterns to incorporate into their interior designs.
For the design team behind the Corian® Private Collection, the inspiration came from geological references. Time-worn stone, fossilized shells and strata layers have all influenced the collection, which is characterized by subtle fading and a sense of movement.
Although the solid surfaces may look like stone, they have several unique characteristics. DuPont¢ Surfaces marketing manager Maureen McGeehan says the ability to customize Corian is a key feature.
"It enables designers and homeowners to think outside the box and use the material in innovative ways," she says.
"There are other practical benefits that cannot be overlooked. Corian is hard wearing, non-porous and does not promote the growth of mold, mildew or bacteria. It is also renewable stains and scratches can be sanded out to keep the surface looking just like new."
Corian is not limited to kitchen countertops and backsplashes it can be used in a variety of applications throughout the home. These can include vanity tops, tub surrounds, shower walls, desk tops and shelving.
