Natural blonde
With its white ash cabinetry and White Jasmine Corian benchtops, this new kitchen reflects a strong Scandinavian design influence

Pale timbers and sleek white surfaces are often associated with modern Scandinavian design. It's a look that is well suited to contemporary kitchens, such as the one featured on these pages.
Designed by Natalie Du Bois of Du Bois Design, the kitchen replaces a heavy-looking U-shaped kitchen with highly grained timber cabinetry. Du Bois says the owners wanted a clean, uncluttered kitchen that would be light and modern.
"Although the kitchen is narrow, we recommended a sleek, open, galley-style island," she says. "This features a benchtop in White Jasmine Corian®. The surface is wrapped down the back and the side, which makes the island look like a large, solid block of Corian. The square end of the island works in unison with the square rangehood to contrast the round pendant lights."

DuBois says the White Jasmine Corian, which was supplied by The Laminex Group, has a slight speckle that adds depth and texture to the kitchen. The Corian is paired with a mix of white ash veneer and lacquered cabinets. Du Bois says the white ash was made a lighter blonde by an extra coat of white semi-opaque satin lacquer.
To ensure a smart finish, the cabinet interiors are finished in Formica Melteca Brushed Silver. Other products from The Laminex Group include Grass hinges, Hettich Innotech full-extension airmatic drawer runners, internal and toekick drawers, Innotech cutlery trays and a Franke sink.
