Moving right along
All in a day's work it took just one day for Royal Wolf to install 36m of temporary hoardings to provide safe pedestrian access to the new Manukau Train Station in Auckland, New Zealand
Efficient public transport is a priority for arapidly growing supercity, and the Auckland Council is wasting no time in establishing a new rail link to the centre of Manukau.
The project, a joint venture with Auckland Transport and the Manukau Institute of Technology, includes the new Manukau Train Station, where trains will arrive and depart from two 180m-long platforms 6m below ground level. The site was subject to a number of challenges, including the movement of thousands of people daily, who required safe passage to the train station during the construction of a multi-level building.
Using the strength and durability of its worksite range, Royal Wolf provided 36m of hoardings as a containerised pedestrian walkway. The walkway includes lighting, and has the added security of being able to be closed and locked at night.
Andrew Strachan, Royal Wolf Australia national building and construction manager, says the hoardings, which were installed in a single day, are independently engineered and certified, and have a 10kPa rating.
"Our worksite range offers a number of on-site solutions for construction companies, including site offices, accommodation, ablutions, first aid and lunch rooms, all with flexible rental options.
With more than 16 years experience and 29 locations across Australia and New Zealand, Royal Wolf is the largest shipping container provider in Australasia.
