Many kitchens present a pale, restrained aesthetic to the world. However, this dark-toned kitchen by designer Annika Rowson achieves a more dramatic presence

From the designer:

The brief for this kitchen was to create a bold, moody & masculine kitchen that not only melded back into the open plan living space but one that also offered a raw & natural aesthetic.

In response, matt black Sage cabinetry and dark Dekton benching - in Domoos – were introduced to bring the required depth, contrasting with the marble concrete floors.

The bold Dekton splashbacks – in Trillium – bring drama and texture, adding a wow factor and complementing the tones in the concrete wall panelling, flooring and timber accents.

The kitchen's open timber shelving links to the architecture, building, cabinetry, ceiling, countertop, cupboard, floor, flooring, furniture, home, house, interior design, kitchen, property, room, shelf, shelving, tile, wood, black, gray
The kitchen's open timber shelving links to the timber treads fitted to the adjacent concrete stairs, the wine fridge shelving and the bar stool seating.

Open timber shelves in the entertainment nook adds necessary warmth to balance the space, and these are also fitted with LED strip lighting for display. The shelving also cohesively links to the timber treads fitted to the adjacent concrete stairs, the wine fridge shelving and the bar stool seating.

The hand-blown pendant lighting by Soktas offers an elegant touch to the raw and dramatic space, adding a gentle glow.

The contemporary kitchen includes a concealed TV fitted on a Hafele motorised lifting system which descends from the overhead units to the right of the drinks nook.

Completing the picture, an open scullery behind the main kitchen offers both ample benching and storage, along with a secondary oven and fridge/freezer.
