The new Yve apartment towers combine a striking sculptural presence with upmarket standards in contemporary residential living
When the interior designers specified the appliances for Yve's sleek, minimalist kitchens both functionality and looks were important.
A Smeg stainless steel underbench oven and gas cooktop were chosen to enhance the kitchens' white cabinetry and natural stone benchtops. Overhead a Smeg exhaust fan clears the air.
The visual appeal of these appliances is backed by a range of functions designed to cater for entertaining and everyday cooking requirements. For example, the Smeg underbench oven has five cooking functions, plus defrost, and the oven's shiny exterior conceals an easy-to-clean enamel interior. In terms of safety, its features include thermal overload protection and a triple-glazed door with forced-air door cooling. Even the high-tech oven grill trays have safety-grip handles.
The Smeg cooktop complements the oven and can be set for natural gas or LPG. From Smeg's Piano range, the hob offers four burners, automatic ignition and a flame failure safety device. Pressed from a single metal sheet, the easy-to-clean hob has no crevices that can trap dirt.
For fast and efficient odour removal, the Smeg rangehood has four speeds and a recirculating option. A removable stainless steel and aluminium grease filter provides for hassle-free clean-ups.
Less obvious in the decor are Smeg's integrated microwave and dishwasher. The dishwasher's array of functions include capacity for 14 standard place settings, and a Orbital wash action with three wash arms. This cutting-edge design offers five wash cycles, including a rinse only selection, hot air drying, and a quiet operation. Again safety is to the fore, with an anti-flood security and a self-reversing anti-jam feature on the synchronous appliance motor.
The integrated Smeg microwave is equally well equipped for busy apartment life. The appliance's enamelled panelling and tempered glass turntable makes for easy cleaning. The microwave has a large 29.55 litre capacity, five power levels, and automatic programmes. Again, safety is a priority with a child safety lock-out an additional feature.
