Accessibility and convenience have become high priorities within our homes. This is becoming more evident with the growingpopularity of home automation and home theatre concepts.

With a central, media convergence unit installed, the homeowners had control over the distribution of voice, data, video and audio.

"DVDs, videos, or television can be viewed from the comfort of the lounge, kitchen or bedroom. Also, four to eight computers can be connected to the internet at the same time," says Boniface.

"When the couple are entertaining friends, or merely enjoying a quiet drink together, piped music can be heard in the main bedroom, the bar area and alfresco patio."

Practicality is also a big part of the home automation design, and this extends to the infrared intercom that was installed, he says.
