Celia Visser is a qualified kitchen and bathroom designer, with over 20 years' experience and multiple awards to her name. A current member of the NKBA and the Designers Institute of New Zealand, Celia is also a seminar speaker and a past NKBA vice president.

"The kitchen is the main focus of this villa and this design ensures the clients can connect easily with the family while preparing an evening meal," says Visser.

"The owners collect art and design pieces and the kitchen provides a simple, calm backdrop for these. White lacquered cabinetry, wide drawers, lift-up overhead cabinets and whitewashed floorboards combine to create the sleek, airy look.

"A tiled splashback in a distinctive quilted pattern adds texture, while the solid marble benchtop, streaked with grey, is an artwork in its own right."

The design evolved from Celia's close understanding of the clients' needs.
