Looks that last
Decks with the subtle colors or the deeper, varying tones of new wood but without the maintenance give us another option for outdoor living spaces
Wood has a special place in our homes: many of us love the distinctive look and feel of this natural product. So it makes sense to choose wood for our outdoor decks or does it?
Wood just can't stand up to repeated onslaught from the sun and rain, and wooden decks soon look worn and bleached, says Craig Sherrett, group marketing director of WeatherBest®.
"As more homeowners are reinventing the backyard as an extension of their living and entertaining spaces, there is another decking choice," he says.
"Some WeatherBest decking has softer hues, while others reach for the more dramatic variations of the color and graining found in natural wood. But this decking maintains the look of new wood, whatever the weather."
The company's newest composite decking WeatherBest Tropical is designed to have the random coloring of cypress or teak, but without weather damage.
Made from recycled wood particles and high density plastic, WeatherBest decking is treated with BoardBlock to resist rot, mold, decay, termites and cracking.
"There's no need to sand, seal or stain your WeatherBest decking," says Sherrett.
"All you need to keep a WeatherBest deck looking good is a regular spray with a garden hose."
The company also produces a range of railings to complement its decking.
