THE OPEN-AIR PIAZZA, with its shady trees and grassed areas, is a key feature of the Circle on Cavill development. Designed as a focus for outdoor entertainment, the piazza includes a high-quality LED super screen supplied by audiovisual specialist Total Concept Projects (TCP).

Sales director Peter Guest says the company was contracted to design and build the super screen and digital signage system, along with high-performance audio systems.

"Changes to the construction schedule meant we initially assembled the 50m² screen off-site in a warehouse," says Guest. "This enabled us to check the alignment and carry out pre-installation testing. The screen was then assembled in a temporary position on site, until the completion of the piazza."

Guest says the position of the super screen between the North and South towers meant it needed to be engineered to withstand wind loads.

"The LED super screen and content management system was customised for integration into the architectural design of the piazza. The speaker systems, custom fascia and surrounds are all black to blend in with the architectural elements."

Guest says the LED screen, which is motorised so it can be raised and lowered as needed, is made up of numerous modules. TCP worked with the manufacturer to customise these modules to be totally weatherproof and non corrosive, given the fact that the screen is not far from the beach.

The audio system was also customised to suit the location. Guest says extensive calibration was undertaken with digital delays and equalisation to enable listeners to hear the content playing on the screen throughout the piazza and the adjacent retail corridors.

TCP specialises in innovative audiovisual and lighting solutions, and digital signage for corporate, hospitality and residential sectors in Australia and Asia. The company has offices in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
