There's little doubt that architects and designers like to push the boundaries, but their projects are only as good as modern materials will allow.

One of the trends in more recent years is the move towards large openings, which can stretch the capabilities of standard residential joinery. This house, designed by Stephenson & Turner Architects, features a range of doors and windows from Aluminium Systems, including large stacking sliding doors, bifolds and louvre windows. The joinery, fabricated by Fairview Window Solutions, has a powdercoated finish.

The sliding doors of the Architectural Series have extremely strong panels utilising either standard or heavy duty rollers that enable panels of up to 300kg to move smoothly and easily with the lightest touch. The glazing platforms range from 35mm-55mm to allow for greater sizes and high wind loads.
