Look and learn
Keeping on top of flooring technology just became a whole lot easier, with the opening of the new Tarkett Academy, a dedicated education and training centre
Change is a certainty in most industries, and the flooring industry is no exception. New products, innovations and technology are frequently being introduced, as well as new best-practice flooring installation and maintenance techniques.
To help the industry keep abreast of the latest developments, Tarkett Australia has opened the doors on a dedicated education and training centre in Sydney. The Tarkett Academy has been launched to update the trade on all aspects of flooring, across many different product categories and market segments.
Tarkett Australia national marketing manager John Thomas says the company has appointed Gary Eggers as technical field manager at the academy.
"Gary has extensive industry experience from running his own installation business, and from visiting a number of Tarkett facilities around the world. He also continues to access the international training program and support service provided by the Tarkett Expertise Centre in France."
Thomas says a dedicated Tarkett accredited training programme has been created, which provides a range of campus modules. Product, application and segment-specific modules have been developed to suit various attendees, including specifiers, contractors and installers. In addition, customised modules can be designed to fit a customer's specific requirements.
"For specifiers, our overall goal is to make their job easier," says Thomas. "We aim to empower them with knowledge and solutions to assist the decision-making process. Highlighting the issues that need to be considered when selecting flooring, and providing back-up, ultimately adds value and reduces risk to their clients."
Tarkett also aims to encourage more installers into the profession by raising the profile of the industry and helping to develop skill sets.
