With sustainable design a priority for designers and homeowners alike, houses today are invariably designed to maximise cross ventilation. A critical component of such a design is a ceiling fan that can enhance the air flow to provide cooling breezes throughout the home.

But that's not the only benefit. As the projects on these pages show, the right ceiling fan also works on a visual level, reinforcing the interior design.

These projects highlight Australian-designed ceiling fans from Hunter Pacific International, a local firm that specialises in the manufacture and distribution of high-quality ceiling fans, as well as lighting and accessories.

Hunter Pacific International director Philip Allen says the company has grown significantly since its inception as a small family business in the 1980s.

"Right from the outset, Hunter Pacific has put an emphasis on good design, high quality, technical innovation and service to match," he says. "That commitment has seen the company grow to become one of the leading fan manufacturers in the country, supplying significant volumes to the residential and commercial sectors."

Hunter Pacific moved to purpose-built headquarters in Dural, Sydney in 2005.

"With these expanded facilities the company is focused on broadening its product range, while making even greater improvements in reliability, service and design," says Allen. "We have our own research and development division, as well as an enlarged service and product testing area. We also run installation trials and employ stringent quality control methods, so clients can have peace of mind in respect to performance, durability and safety."

Allen says Hunter Pacific was one of the first companies to introduce mix-and-match fans, and to introduce a genuine 316 (marine) grade stainless steel fan.

"Hunter Pacific was also the first company to introduce a fan where the blades attach directly to the housing with no intermediary blade holder."

Today, the company has an extensive range of fans that reflect further technical innovations in motor, housing and blade design. Each and every product comes with extensive warranties.
