Incorporating natural light is important in a new home, yet in some areas, it can be difficult to introduce.

Glass block walls can enhance areas of your home that lack light, says Gary Walden, director of Eurobrik. Already a popular choice for creating light-filled and private bathrooms, he says they can be used as interior feature walls, or in place of traditional glazing.

"Glass blocks are a contemporary alternative to standard glazing, offering a number of additional advantages, such as privacy, strength, safety and insulation."

The double-layer construction means the blocks are strong enough to use as external, shower or feature walls. As well as introducing light, the blocks also work like double glazing to provide sound and thermal insulation.

A variety of patterns, sizes and colours are available, with four privacy ratings ranging from completely clear to completely obscure. As the patterns are inside the blocks, the surface is smooth and easy to clean.
