When creating a new kitchen it can be difficult to know which utilities, finishes and cabinetry to choose. Often designers have preferred products or distributors that they work with. However, this may narrow the choices presented to you.
One way to ensure a variety of options is to work with a designer who doesn't favour one product or supplier over another, says Debra DeLorenzo, NKBA, of Debra DeLorenzo Design. As well as a certified kitchen designer, she is also a certified bathroom designer, CKDNZ, CBDNZ.
"DeLorenzo Design isn't aligned with any product or manufacturer. This means the sole focus of our kitchens is good design," says DeLorenzo.
Her company offers a complete design package, from initial drawings through to project management of the entire fitout.
"I can create classic, country, or contemporary kitchens, such as the one shown here," she says. "For this project, the client wanted an open-plan design with clean lines and easy-to-clean surfaces."
To achieve this, the designer chose textured stainless steel benches, painted glass splashbacks and a satin lacquer finish on the cabinetry, which was built by Mother Hubbards Cupboards.
