Window system provides passive ventilation

The high standard of specification evident throughout the show home extends to the door and window joinery. Harmony Homes specified powdercoated aluminium joinery in Silver Pearl from Phoenix Aluminium Doors & Windows.

The joinery, from the Phoenix residential suite, includes large stacker doors and awning windows that provide passive ventilation.

Mark Fisher, Phoenix Aluminium sales and marketing manager, says that unlike most standard passive ventilation systems, the Phoenix system positions the vents above the window, rather than at the side or below the window.

"Because hot air rises, the higher position improves the flow of air, helping to ensure the house is cooler in summer. In winter, the vents prevent the build up of moisture or condensation that can cause mildew."

Harmony Homes director Grant Russell says the company specifies top-of-the-line Phoenix Aluminium joinery for all its projects. The joinery is customised to suit individual requirements.
