Extensive co-ordination helped to complete the Garrison fit-out in a short time frame
With its curved walls and extensive wood panelling, the Garrison Public House fit-out required precision craftsmanship. Scarbro Construction Ltd (SCL), a company with extensive experience in all aspects of commercial construction, was contracted to undertake the fit-out of both the interior and the glazed canopy on the exterior.
Director Garry Scarborough says the fit-out of the 540m² bar one of the largest fit-outs in Sylvia Park Stage III is a flagship for SCL.
"The project required extensive co-ordination, particularly in light of the tight time frame," he says. "In addition to the main floor, we also needed to build a mezzanine floor, which effectively meant building two storeys in just 11 weeks."
The work entailed working with other direct contractors, including companies supplying and installing kitchen equipment, cool stores, audiovisual equipment and beer supply lines.
"Fit-outs, whether stand alone or part of a full building construction project, are part and parcel of our main business," says Scarborough. "In projects where SCL is head contractor, being responsible for both exterior and interior work provides obvious benefits when co-ordinating fit-out schedules with overall construction programmes."
Scarborough says SCL has a philosophy of employing its own workforce, as opposed to contract staff, and has an experienced staff of more than 60.
