All that glitters this new jewellery store was fitted out by Allen & Chapman

Jewellery stores come under the spotlight in more ways than one. The glittering interiors designed to make items sparkle are themselves under close scrutiny as customers deliberate over jewellery purchases. Not surprisingly, the company contracted to fit out the new Diamond & Time store in Sylvia Park also paid close attention to detail.
Jeff Chapman of Allen & Chapman says the store, which was designed by Melanija Radak of MR Design, epitomises the glamour of a 1950s New York department store. The sophistication of the design needed to be reflected in the craftsmanship.
"It was an intensive, and very precise fit-out, with a lot of different elements," Chapman says. "The entrance, for example, features two curved, vertical blades lined with mosaic tiles and linked by a circular lacquered canopy. There are also tall, narrow oak veneer cabinets that extend through the front glass of the store."

Special features of the interior include a seven-sided central counter, which encourages customers to move through to the rear of the store. Both the counters and the back-painted glass display cabinets are framed in stainless steel.
Chapman says the project's success is testament to the close working relationship between all parties.
Allen & Chapman specialises in complete store fit-outs, a service that includes project management and the commissioning of all subcontractors.
