Learning Curve
Wired for technology
Starting afresh provides an ideal opportunity to equip a school with the latest technology. For Te Whanau o Tupuranga school, all the infrastructure for the data, access control, security and phone systems was supplied and installed by Boss Systems. Electrical services were provided by Callander Electrics.
Boss Systems general manager Brayden Jack says the Ministry of Education-approved Concept 4000 security system and Leviton data system were provided, along with extensive cabling, jacks and plates.
"Keeping the existing school systems operational throughout the process was the biggest challenge," he says. "We managed to organise the works programme so all the services could be swapped over in a single day, which ensured there was as little disruption as possible."
Callander Electrics was contracted by Arrow to provide specialist electrical services and to assist the consultants to achieve a design and installation that would provide a practical and economic solution for the main electrical, power distribution and lighting systems. Director John Callander says the company worked closely with Arrow and the design team to achieve the desired outcome within a restrained budget.
Callander Electrics has worked on Ministry of Education projects for more than 20 years.
